The 7 Primary Hazard Categories

Industrial workers are often injured.  Awareness and action will achieve an acceptable risk.  In the event of an unfortunate accident, hopefully the claim is for workers comp insurance and not for negligence.  Know your exposures.  The seven primary hazard categories are:

  1. electrical shock
  2. energy release (pneumatic, hydraulic, capacitors, arc flash, etc)
  3. mechanical (pinch point, hot spot, noise, etc)
  4. fire (electrical and chemical)
  5. corrosive
  6. toxic
  7. ergonomic

A fatal example of Arc Flash

Here is a good example of why due dilligence in eliminating Arc Flash hazards must be taken seriously.

See our Arc Flash Page to see what you can do to prevent such disasters in your plant.
